My Blog is Boring...

While sick, I'm taking some time to look into how I can better connect online.

I never know what to blog! Do you ever feel like that?

Most of my time is spent creating new products, filling orders and general running of a home-based business. I love it all! But my blog is like a meadow filled with (nothing) or rather weeds because it isn't tended.

I took down my Facebook stuff because I tried to have my business but it ended up being all personal and I want to keep those somewhat separate.

I'm a TWIT at Twitter. Maybe I should start a service for people like me to help with the social media part of business. I don't want to take time on Facebook and Twitter because they seem to be a sucking vortex of attention and time. How to manage without being consumed?

This is the question. Anyone there? See, I'm talking to myself...whine complain.

Today I added an archive for my newsletters. Need to do the Facebook fan page thing for my business...and then tweet about it...I'll give myself an hour and see what happens...

As a small business owner or individual, how did you learn how to manage your social media?

  1. I feel the same way at times. The nice thing is you can hook up your twitter and facebook pages together- so when you update one, the other updates too. This might help a bit!

  2. Hi! Visiting from Fire and Ice. I am a small business too. Have a facebook page with family and fans so have to be on my best behavior :) also a blog that I try to keep focused on my arts. I also have a webpage that gets lots of traffic but my etsy shop never did. Most of my social media is through artists groups. You would do well through beauty and fashion message boards. I find ppl like it when they get to know the person behind the product. Thanks!

  3. It always takes awhile to get a blog going. I know mine felt awkward when I first started. Felt like I was blabbing to myself! But then you start getting more and more followers and it becomes very addictive!
